NovaStar VX400s-N — the processor that drives most rental walls
The NovaStar VX400s-N is an all-in-one LED video processor and controller, and it is the unit we
supply most often with our used rental screens. It takes HDMI, DVI, SDI and 4K inputs, handles
switching and scaling internally, and drives up to 2.6 million pixels per sending output — enough
for a wide P3.91 wall on a single port.
This is a used unit. It has been bench-tested against a live cabinet batch, its firmware is
updated to the current release, and the receiving-card parameters for the panels you buy from us are
loaded and verified before dispatch. Buying the processor and the screen from the same supplier
removes the single most common cause of a wall that will not come online: mismatched output mapping
and receiving-card settings.
What is included
- NovaStar VX400s-N processor, tested, with power cable
- Firmware updated to current release, factory defaults restored
- Configuration for your cabinet model and pixel pitch, pre-loaded
- Project file exported and handed over so your operator can plug in and run
- 90-day warranty on the unit

Buying a processor with your screen
Tell us the cabinet model, the pixel pitch, the target resolution of the wall and the input
sources you need, and we will confirm whether the VX400s-N is the right match or recommend an
equivalent with the same output capacity. Bulk pricing applies when the processor ships together
with a screen order.
Compatibility with the panel batches we hold
The VX400s-N is the processor we pair most often with the used rental panels on our floor. It
runs Gloshine, Dicolor and LightLink batches in P3.91, P4.81 and P6.944, and because it is
configured for your cabinet model before dispatch, it arrives already mapped to the batch you
bought rather than as a blank unit you have to commission yourself.
Tell us the cabinet model, the pixel pitch and the wall resolution you are aiming for, and we
will confirm the sending-card layout. One sending output carries up to 2.6 million pixels, which is
enough for a wide P3.91 wall on a single port.
Condition report
This is a used unit, described item by item rather than graded with a word like “excellent”:
| Unit | Used NovaStar VX400s-N, refurbished |
|---|---|
| Bench test | Powered up and driven against a live cabinet batch |
| Firmware | Updated to the current release; factory defaults restored |
| Configuration | Receiving-card parameters for your cabinet model and pixel pitch loaded and verified |
| Handover | Project file exported and given to you, so your operator can plug in and run |
| Documents | Inspection record and specification sheet issued with the unit |
| Warranty | 90 days on the unit |
What buyers usually order alongside it
- A used rental panel batch — Gloshine, Dicolor or LightLink, in P3.91, P4.81 or P6.944
- Spare parts matched to that batch, included with panel orders
- Photographs and video of the actual unit, sent before you commit
Buying the panels and the processor as one system is why most customers take both from us. A
wall that will not come online is usually a mapping or receiving-card problem rather than a
hardware failure, and it is far cheaper to have that tested here than to diagnose it on site with a
deadline running.
Questions about the VX400s-N
Can I use it with panels I already own?
Usually yes, provided we know the cabinet model, the pixel pitch and the receiving card. Send the label details or a photograph of a panel you own and we will confirm compatibility before you order rather than after.
What inputs does it accept?
HDMI 1.4, DVI, 3G-SDI and 4K HDMI, with Dante and analogue audio in and out. Switching and scaling are handled inside the unit, so most rental work does not need a separate scaler.
How much can one output drive?
Up to 2.6 million pixels per sending output — enough for a wide P3.91 wall on a single port. Tell us the target resolution and we will confirm the layout before you commit.
Is a used processor risky?
The failures we see are rarely in the processing engine itself. They are configuration, firmware and worn connectors, which is exactly what the bench test, the firmware update and the settings handover address. The unit carries a 90-day warranty.
What software do I need?
NovaLCT or VCanvas, over USB or Ethernet. We export the project file and hand it over, so your operator loads it and runs rather than building the configuration from scratch.
Can it ship with my screen order?
Yes, and it should. Panels and processor configured as one system removes the single most common cause of a wall that will not come online. Bulk pricing applies when the processor ships together with a screen order.
Where to check the stock and the paperwork
The batches this unit is configured for are listed on the used rental LED
screen page, and the live position — 12 batches across 4 brands, roughly 1,490 m² — is on
the warehouse page. What is tested before dispatch, and the documents that
travel with each batch, is set out on the inspection records page. If
you are still deciding between pitches, the buying FAQ covers the questions
buyers ask most. Send your cabinet model and target wall size through the
contact page and we will confirm the match.
